On April 1, not only Vilnius University but also the Vilnius University Chamber Orchestra celebrates its anniversary. On this occasion, on March 28 at 19:00, the orchestra invites audiences to a festive concert at St. Johns’ Church, dedicated to the 47th anniversary of the orchestra and the 447th anniversary of Vilnius University.
The celebratory performance will feature distinguished Lithuanian soloists:
Bassoonist Šarūnas Kačionas – long-time principal bassoonist of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, pedagogue, and educator who has been nurturing young generations of musicians for over three decades.
Oboist Morta Kačion – a representative of the young generation of performers, a fourth-generation musician who studied in Stockholm, The Hague, and Oslo, actively performing in chamber music projects.
Oboist Robertas Beinaris, Professor and Doctor of Arts at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre – one of Lithuania’s most prominent wind instrumentalists, an active soloist and pedagogue, consistently fostering the tradition of chamber music.
Horn player Indrė Kuleševičienė – lecturer at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and principal horn of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Orchestra. A laureate of international competitions, she completed advanced studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music under world-renowned pedagogue Frøydis Ree Wekre and has been awarded the Medal of the President of the Republic of Lithuania for promoting Lithuania’s name abroad.

The Vilnius University Chamber Orchestra is a chamber ensemble dedicated to high artistic standards, bringing together musicians of diverse professional backgrounds for nearly five decades. Over the years, the orchestra has become an important part of Lithuania’s musical life, performing actively in major concert halls and churches both in Lithuania and abroad. The orchestra is part of the Vilnius University Cultural Centre.
