Vilnius University will open the academic year 2014–2015 with the traditional holiday "Initium semestri" on 1st of September.

Programme of the opening ceremony:

9.00 – Flag raising ceremony and opening of the K. Donelaitis monument in the Library courtyard of Vilnius University. A song performed by VU folk ensemble "Ratilio".

10.00 - 12.00 – Opening of the academic year in faculties.

14.45 – Traditional parade of the Vilnius University students, lecturers and alumni starting from the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania leading towards the central building of Vilnius University.

15.30–16.30 – Official opening ceremony "Initium Semester" of the academic year 2014–2015 at the University Grand Courtyard. The Concert of the Academic Choir "Gaudeamus" and the Wind Orchestra "Oktava" of Vilnius University.
